Fred Cross

Fred Raymond Cross, son of Matthew and Elizabeth Cross was born November 24, 1894, at Belle Plains, Kansas, and departed this life at Gothenburg, August 27, 1965, at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 3 days.

On Feb. 17, 1915, he ws united in marriage to Pearl Faith Mosley at Holdrege, who preceded him in death. To this union was born three sons and two daughters, Theron, of Clarinda, Iowa, Gordon of Moorefield, and Roland of Prineville, Oregon, Delores of Gothenburg and Audrey of Farnam.

He was baptized unto Christ August 1961 and became a member of the Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith of Moorefield.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, five children, eighteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a brother, Art of Minden, two sisters, Edith Elliot of Calif., Henrietta Palmer of Wash., a half brother, Ted Woodgate of Calif., two half sisters, Marie Wiebke of Omaha and Helen of Columbus, an aunt, Henrietta Price of Witchita, Kan. and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, a brother, Leo, a half sister, Dolly and a granddaughter, Kay.

Services were held at the Moorefield Union Church August 31, 1965, with Pastor V. E. Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial was in the Farnam Cemetery.

Music was by Virginia Norby, Vickie Cross and Coleen Cross.

Honorary Pallbearers were Everett Stevens, Otto Stinette, Burt Fisher, Jake Ernest, E. B. Lewis and Dan Dovenbarger. Pallbearers were: Kenneth Stevens, Rex Ealy, Dale Craig, Ralph Parker, Art Fickenscher and Paul Fickenscher.
