Ida Squires Carmichael

Ida Squires was born in Ohio Sept. 3rd 1848 and departed this life at Bloomington, Nebr., Febr. 9, 1927, age 78 years, 5 months and 6 days.

At an early age she, with her parents, move to Page Co., Iowa. In Febr. 1865, she was united in marriage to Henry Carmichael. The family moved to Nebraska about the year ’84 and settled near Lone Star school house south of Farnam. Nine children were born to this union, all of whom survive their mother. They are: Harry H., Scottsbluff, Nebr.; Joe, Bloomington, Nebr.; Mahlon J. of McMinnville, Ore.; Eugene of Kansas City, Mo.; Grace Whitcomb, Orange, Calif.; Gena Craig, Rogerson, Ida.; Verona Paquin, Twinfalls, Idaho; Mary Martin and Maude Gardner of Rogerson, Ida. She also leaves three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Helen Clark, of New Market, Ia.; Ada Cunning, of Nampa, Ida.; and Ellen Davis of Bloomington, Nebr. and Jasper and Tim Squires of Clarinda, Ia. Her husband preceded her in death in June, 1902.

She became a member of the Baptist church in 1878 and in 1892 was united with the Mennonite Brethren in Christ church remaining a faithful member until the time of her death.

Funeral services were held from the Baptist church in Farnam Friday afternoon by Rev. Young of Bloomington. Interment was made in the Farnam cemetery.
