On November 3, 1902, he was united in marriage to Mabel Rose. To this union twelve children were born. His mother, father, two brothers and one sister, three sons and one daughter preceded him in death.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, five daughters and three sons, Edna Hathaway, Stella Lehman, Zella Messersmith of Farnam, Lula Stapp of Bartley, Hazel Williams of Arcadia, Harold and Dale of Farnam and Harry of Padroni, Colorado. Fifteen grandchildren, one great granddaughter, two sisters, Ellen Wear of Farnam and Lottie Hastings of Elsie.

He was a kind and loving husband and father, a friend of all who knew him, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday at the local Methodist church under the supervision of the McVay funeral home, and with Rev. L. H. Messersmith officiating. Interment was in the Farnam cemetery.
